This 3-hour Life-Threatening Bleeding Control course provides essential guidance on controlling catastrophic bleeding, including the safe and effective use of tourniquets and haemostatic dressings. It covers equipment, the primary survey, recognising life-threatening bleeding, applying haemostatic dressings, using tourniquets, completing a top-to-toe survey, environmental considerations, and handover to the emergency services. There is no formal examination; learners are continuously assessed throughout the course and a non-regulated certificate of achievement is issued to those who demonstrate the required level of competence. Entry requirement: learners must hold a valid First Aid at Work or Emergency First Aid at Work certificate. Suitable for first aiders and responders in higher-risk settings. Minimum age 16; maximum group size 16.
